2008.08.17 - The First Step is Admitting you have a Problem... Some general observations about the ebb and flow of Halo 3 activity. Also, some suggestions to get you back in the game. <Note: This is regurgitated content for our newer members>
So,
I am as guilty of this as anyone, but I've noticed it's much harder to find a D Wrath member on with whom to play lately. Sure there are the staples, Utica, Froman, Archer, and myself, but I feel that folks are losing touch with this magical game.
I know there are other really addictive, great games out right now, but c'mon, it's Halo!
Some suggestions to find more time for Halo: 1) Stop playing Beautiful Katamari, it's just an evil mind-control tool used to get us to buy more Pokemon. 2) Meditate and remember the glory of a brilliant grenade stick, vehicle splatter, head-snipe, or triple kill you've had in the past. These memories can get you through a day of work, and will undoubtedly bring you back for more. 3) Stop watching your favorite sports franchise. They created sportscenter to support Halo fans who want to catch up on their sports in small, manageable time-bites. 4) Cut all social interaction in half. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, and Halo helps you reflect on the beautiful things in life, like people whose gamertag is "About 43 Ninjas". 5) Replace personal hygiene with Halo 3. This also tends to make suggestion #4 easier to accomplish. 6) Live a truly spartan lifestyle. Eat only when you must, and kill all the time. This is also known as the ninja lifestyle, or being Chuck Norris. 7) Catch quick cat-naps between matchmaking games. Take advantage of the occasional server lag to butt-stroke some ZZZ's. 8) Adjust your look speed to keep the game interesting, from a drugged-marmoset 1, all the way up to a tweaked out crack-fiend 99 (must have a modded xbox, and be a real-life crack-fiend). 9) Play Clive Barker's Jericho so that you have a good benchmark for what an awful, crummy game can look like. Your views of Halo 3 will become more positive the moment you turn on that heaping pile of filth. 10) Make a $100 bet with a Halo playing friend that you can reach 10000 logged matchmaking games before they do. 11) Invite friends over to watch you play, and see how long they sit in a room with you, being completely ignored and hearing your incessant, childish screaming. This should also help with #4. 12)Try to make prettier screen caps and game pics than r3v. This should take you a few months of solid play time, that guy is basically the Eddie Adams of Halo 3.
Hope this dirty dozen will help you find more time in your day to appreciate all the potential slaughter that is out there waiting for you. I'll see you on Live.
